Mission/Vision
DBC is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the children of the South Dallas community.  We work to strengthen the entire family structure by providing holistic services for each child’s educational, physical, emotional, social, moral, and spiritual needs.

Services

  • Child Development: Day care service for children ages infant to 5.
  • Pre-K: A half-day program for children ages 4 1/2 to 5. =
  • After School: Provides children ages 6 to 12 with tutoring, computer education, life skills training, field trips, etc. [Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.]
  • Summer Enrichment Program: For kids ages 6 to 12. Offers field trips, a reading program, Vacation Bible School, educational speakers, and much more. [Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., for 11 weeks.]
  • Summer Reading Program: A component of the Summer Enrichment Program; makes reading fun for children by letting them read to adults.
  • Food Vouchers: distributes food vouchers to women with children and the elderly who are in critical need of food.
  • Computer Education and Literacy Lab: An integral part of several DBC programs, including Child Development, Pre-K, After School, and the Summer Enrichment Program. Activities in the lab focus on reading, math, letter and number recognition, phonics, and basic computer skills.
  • Christmas Outreach: Makes connections between families in need and those with resources they would like to share.
  • Health Fair: Promotes healthy lifestyles and the importance of preventative medicine and treatment.
  • Thanksgiving Dinner: Serves hot, nutritious Thanksgiving dinners to more than 400 families in the South Dallas community.
  • Children’s Community Choir: Children from local elementary schools participate and perform throughout the Dallas area.

  • Instructors for 4H curriculum (crocheting, scrapbooking, digital photography, acting, etc.)

Financial Donations
Scholarships needed, ranging from $500 - $5,000

Internship opportunity 
Six students needed to assist at Freedom School, a 5-week summer camp for children beginning in mid-July.  $2,000 stipend available. Call Hope Wharton for details at 214.428.5171.
