Kerygma: the Greek word in the New Testament used for both the
content of the Christian faith and the proclamation of the faith.

Kerygma is a teaching service led by Rev. Walt Marcum on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. in Great Hall. Instead of a traditional sermon, each week Rev. Marcum will present an extended and in-depth exploration of the scripture utilizing the best contemporary scholarship to help participants more fully understand what the scriptures mean when they are written.

For more information, contact Rev. Marcum at 214.523.2235 or marcumw@hpumc.org.

Kerygma in the New Testament

1 Corinthians 1:21
It is the wisdom of God that the world did not know God through wisdom, but through the foolishness of our kerygma to save those who believe.

Romans 16:25
God is able to strengthen you through the gospel and the kerygma of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages.

Titus 1:1-2
For the sake of the faith and the knowledge of the truth and in the hope of eternal life, God revealed his word through the kerygma with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior.
