Youth Choir Tour 2008
On June 10, 55 members of the youth choir and 15 chaperones embarked on the annual summer Choir Tour. This year the HPUMC youth choir headed to Boston and New York, spending about two and a half days in each city. However, this year there was a different mindset: the purpose was not to sing a little and have fun, but rather to embrace the idea of servant hood by bringing the Lord’s message to our brothers and sisters in Christ through song.
"Thank you sharing your ministry of music with New York Presbyterian Hospital on Friday, June 13th, and at Christ Church UMC on Sunday, June 15th. No one knows, better than one who has 'done it', what all it takes to conceive and execute the ministry which you, your singers, and your sponsors shared with us. The cost of such a meaningful ministry through music and youth cannot be counted in dollars. It is measured in the hearts touched, or small encounters which enabled patients and families to cope with a difficult diagnosis, or by a Sunday morning worship enriched by your joyful sounds and youthful presence. Yours is a ministry which uses a complex language -the language of the heart articulated through lyrical speech. You touched many lives and brought joy to many as well. Your ministry reminded us that doing what we love and sharing that love with others bears witness to our claim of God's love upon our hearts and lives. Thank you. May that love continue to enliven your ministrires through music."
"Praise the Lord for your Youth Choir. My wife and I just came home from attending a wonderful concert presented by your youth choir at our church (West Chelmsford UMC). Our spirits were lifted by the music, the voices of the youth and all those who help with this ministry. You could really feel the Spirit of God.Thank you so very much."
"As I told the choir - Spectacular!! The concert was wonderful! And I heard that from a lot of our church members at the reception afterward, including those cleaning up in the kitchen with me. I hope they shared that with the youth as well. I think many of them did.Caitlin and Chris did a great job. It was a pleasure having everyone here. They seemed to enjoy the dinner very much. It did not go unnoticed by all of us that the youth were very courteous, well-mannered, polite, enthusiastic, personable - a most enjoyable evening all around. Everyone - chaperones, bus drivers, and definitely the youth were delightful."

Why We Love HPUMC Youth Choir
"Through choir, I've been able to meet some of my best friends. It's a great place for fellowship, community, and worship. Because of choir, I can share experiences with best friends who I can worship God with; it's a truly incredible experience."
- John Faubion, graduate
"Youth Choir is an extremely large part of my life. Through Youth Choir I have made so many friends and they are much more meaningful than friendships I have at school. And the memories, oh my gosh, are priceless. I could list memories of Youth Choir for a week and never get through them all! Youth Choir is the most meaningful, most fun, and the absolute best thing I do!!!!"
- Elise McDonald, sophomore
"Youth choir is a place where I can do two things I love, sing and worship our Lord."
- Scott Bryan, junior
"Youth Choir is a great way to do something that I love. It's awesome singing with my friends and becoming closer to God. Also I'll never forget Susanna and Brunt!!!"
- Carl Hendin, graduate
I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.
- Psalms 7:17
