Weddings at HPUMC

Fall Weddings for 2008
Renovations in our Main Sanctuary as well as Cox Chapel will prevent us from holding weddings in the Sanctuary from the beginning of July through the end of January and in Cox Chapel from the beginning of September through the end of December of this year.

Weddings are scheduled through our Manager of Special Events, Kim Hetzel at  hetzelk@hpumc.org or 214-523-2272. She will explain the details of all policies and procedures.

Weddings
Weddings are scheduled to allow a 3-hour time period between the start of each service.  You may arrive an hour and a half before the scheduled time of the wedding and must be out an hour and a half after the scheduled time.  Weddings are not scheduled in the Sanctuary and Cox Chapel at the same time.

For purposes of this policy, "member" means the bride or groom, parents or grandparents of the bride or groom, or children of the bride or groom.  "Member" also means that you have been a member of HPUMC for over a year at the time of scheduling.

Members of Highland Park United Methodist Church  may reserve HPUMC facilities as far in advance of the ceremony as they wish.

Non-members, or members who have been members for less than one year at the time of scheduling, may not schedule their weddings more than four months prior to the ceremony.  (To verify your membership, please contact Cathy Leonard at 214-523-2122)

Also, we do not schedule weddings for non-members during the month of December.

Tentative dates may be checked by telephone or email and can be held for one week by members.  Arrangements must be completed and finalized by the bride, groom, or the parents of the bride or groom.  This is accomplished by coming to Room 302 in person during regular office hours for the purpose of signing a contract.  Couples are required to meet with the minister who is performing the ceremony.  The number of times to meet shall be determined by the officiating minister.  Couples from out of town must submit a letter from their home pastor confirming their counseling sessions.

No weddings or rehearsals, whether for members or non-members, may be scheduled on Sundays or holidays.
